My story “The Last Earth Day” was accepted last week! It’s part of the Happy Hellidays anthology put out by Hellbound Books. This will be my fourth story to be published.
The anthology called for holiday-themed horror. While it was tempting to write about a big holiday, or conversely, a very obscure one, I chose Earth Day for its potential. As you’ve gathered from the story’s title, this might be the last one.
At its core, “The Last Earth Day” is about second chances and whether we deserve them or not. I took the cosmic horror route as it seemed natural. It’s a subgenre that I grow to love more and more.
In typical fashion, I celebrated with a trip to Half Price Books and a scrumptious meal of Ethiopian food.
The pure elation of acceptance makes me want to send out dozens of stories, just so I can taste that feeling again.
I hope more of these announcements are on the horizon. I just need to keep writing.
Tchau,
Zé
You are so talented! If you write this well on your blog I am sure your stories are even more amazing. I deeply regret I canât bring myself to consume horror â images stay with me for life. In grader school I went to a birthday party which took place at the movies â showing The Fly. I spent most of the time sitting in the lobby by myself and still cringe if I think about it! Love K
